Bioavailability of Ag, As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, V and Zn to A. improvisus was investigated in July 2014 at 15 sites along the Iranian coast of the understudied, yet biologically unique, Caspian Sea. In general, the bioavailability of these toxic metals in the water column, as biomonitored by the barnacle, was within the typical ranges expected from data available in the literature. Thus, there were no major environmental concerns raised. Groups of 10 Zebrafish were treated with 0 (control), 5, 10, 15, 30, 50,100 and 200 mg/L of CL– T. Mortality was recorded at every 6 hours until 96h after the beginning of the treatment and lethal concentration for 50% of population (LC50 at 24h and 96h) was calculated. The histopathologic samples were taken from dying fish during the exposure period. Histopathological changes were not evident in organs of the control group. In the gills of treatment groups, congestion, edema, separation of epithelium of secondary lamella from basal membrane, fusion and hypertrophy of secondary lamella, telangiectasis and necrosis of lamella epithelium were observed. In the liver of treatment groups degenerative changes and necrosis of hepatocytes were visible.  The kidney samples represented hydropic degeneration, necrosis, dilation of periglomerular urinary space and hyaline droplets in renal tubules in high concentration. The brain of treatment groups showed spongiosis and increase in glial cells. Severity of these lesions was related to the concentration of CL-T. LC50 24h for CL-T was 428.649 mg/L and LC50 96h was 11.044 mg/L which reveals the low level of toxicity for few hours of treatment. The fish were about 2-months old hatchery-reared brook and rainbow trout with initial weights of 0.934±0.033 (n=360) and 1.014±0.019 (n=360) g, respectively. The juveniles were kept in 10 L aquaria. Each aquarium contained 40 fish: 40 fish from each species for monoculture, 20+20 (rainbow trout+brook trout) fish from each species for duo-culture. The fish were in 3 groups with three replicates in freshwater and seawater and 18 aquaria were used. At the end of the 45 day study; mean live weights of brook trout were 2.735±0.153 g, rainbow trout 2.925±0.262 g in monoculture and brook trout 2.354±0.186 g, rainbow trout 3.882±0.494 g in duo-culture in seawater, brook trout 3.088±0.085, rainbow trout 3.364±0.093 g in monoculture and brook trout 2.164±0.169, rainbow trout 3.948±0.124 g in duo-culture in fresh water. We have found that the ω3 contents of C. caelestis in spring, summer, autumn and winter were 17.43%, 15.29%, 17.54%, 13.63% in female and 16.96%, 19.25%, 18.66%, 14.76% in male, respectively. The amounts of ω3 polyunsaturated fatty acids were higher than those of ω6 polyunsaturated fatty acids. The eicosapentaenoic acid amounts were always higher than the docosahexaenoic acid amounts in C. caelestis. Female C. caelestis presented a higher amount of eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid than males. The amounts of docosahexaenoic acid to eicosapentaenoic acid varied from 0.44% to 0.56% in females and from 0.45% to 0.59% in males in different seasons. The levels of eicosapentaenoic acid + docosahexaenoic acid in female muscles changed from 10.34% to12.51% and in male muscles from 11.16% to 15.41%, respectively. It was seen that the ω3 polyunsaturated fatty acid amounts of C. caelestis reached the highest level in summer and autumn in both sexes. The stored ova of five female kutum were separately fertilised at 0 (i.e., control eggs fertilised prior to storage), 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, and 24 HPS. The eyeing and hatching rates were recorded as indices of the egg quality. The results indicated that the maximum eyeing and hatching rates of the eggs (92% and 74%, respectively) were observed at 0 HPS, whereas the storage of the eggs at 4 °C for 24 HPS decreased the eyeing and hatching rates to 36% and 28%, respectively. The use of the higher storage temperature resulted in a more rapid decrease in the egg viability: eyeing and hatching rates of 9% and 2%, respectively, were obtained after storage at 7 °C for 24 HPS. Feed was offered for 8 weeks by the post pelleting liquid spraying method. Results showed that there were significant differences in all growth parameters and body composition except in survival rate, Gain Weight Percent (GW%) ,SGR and NFE between treatments (p<0.05). Significant differences were also detected in GW % between control group and the last two treatments but there were no significant differences in SGR index between control group and the group fed diets containing 2 g ginger/per100g diet (p<0.05). No significant differences were observed in their length, growth, survival rate as well as NFE (p>0.05). Also, Kruskall-Wallis test found significant difference in the amount of carbohydrate and body fiber (p<0.05). The best results for growth performance, protein, lipid, and energy were found in the group fed maximum dosage of ginger powder in carp commercial diet and lowest values for these parameters were seen in the control group. Additionally, there were high amount of carbohydrate and low amount of fiber in this group. Higher level of ash was reported in the third treatment. Since food produced from fish spoils quickly, it obviously cannot be kept for an extended time. The aim of the present study was to determine the effects of sodium polyphosphate and smoking on the shelf life of fish sausage that was produced from Capoeta umbla and stored at 4±1°C. Therefore, we designed four groups: control group (A), which used neither sodium polyphosphate nor smoking; and treatment groups that used only sodium polyphosphate (group B), smoking (group C) and a combination of sodium polyphosphate and smoking (group D). The shelf life of fish sausage in each group was evaluated according to microbiological (total mesophilic and psychrotrophic bacteria, lactic acid bacteria, yeasts and molds), chemical (pH, thiobarbituoric acid and total volatile basic nitrogen) and sensory analysis. The shelf life of groups A, B, and C was determined as 42 days, while the shelf life of group D was 56 days. Thus, we found significant differences between group D and the other two treatment groups, B and C (p<0.05). A. regius larvae fed on a commercial feeding procedure were sampled thirteen times, during the sampling period (from 3 to 32 days after hatching (DAH)). The differences observed in protease activities of meagre larvae during the sampling period were statistically significant (p<0.05). The lowest and highest protease activities of meagre larvae were 5.95±0.6 U/mg protein (15 DAH) and 211.21±12.56 U/mg protein (7 DAH), respectively. The fluctuations observed in protease activities of A. regius larvae were between 10 DAH and 32 DAH. Commercial diets such as Orange Start-S (100-200µ), Orange Start-L (200-300µ), Orange Nurse-XS (300-500µ), Orange Grow-S (300-500µ) and Orange Grow-L (500-800µ) caused the inhibitions on protease activities in meagre larvae to range from 16 to 32 DAH. The results point to the inadequacy of commercial diets such as Orange Grow-S, Orange Grow-L and suitability of Orange Start-S, Orange Start-L, Orange Nurse-XS for feeding meagre larvae during the weaning stage. For the mass production of quality juveniles, future studies should take into account the inhibitory effects of commercial diets and feed ingredients before the manufacturing process. The fisheries communities in the river are familiar with a diverse range of fishing gear and crafts to catch fish. Therefore, the objectives of the present study were to explore fishing gear and fishing crafts, catch composition of the respective gearand identification of fish biodiversity of Agunmukha River. A step wise validated questionnaire was used for data recording from February 2015 to August 2015. In total, 19 types of fishing gear were identified under 9 major categories. On the other hand, in view of fisheries biodiversity, 47 fish species were listed covering 28 families of which Cyprinidae was found as the most dominant family which contains 9 species under 7 genera followed by Bagridae having 5 species belonging to 3 genera and Engraulidae also containing 3 species under 3 different genera. The study described 7 vulnerable, 5 endangered and 2 critically endangered species out of 42 finfish species. Diversity indexes were calculated for the present finding of which Margalef’s index (d) was 5.13 for species available in the study area. Due to unawareness and indiscriminate fish caught with a small mesh size net, diversity of fish species in the river is under threat. The sampling program was arranged during February to May 2012. Holt (1963) method was used for selectivity of trammel nets. Red mullet was the dominant species in 22 mm mesh size at 52.86%, followed by 25.7% with the 24 mm net and 21.43% with the 26 mm net. On the basis of the results of this study, optimal selectivity lengths of multiflament trammel nets estimated for red mullet were 18.58, 20.27, and 21.96 cm for 22, 24, and 26 mm mesh size, respectively. Pesticide use has elevated crop yield but has produced a number of pronounced problems regarding environmental and health safety. The continuously deteriorating toxicological effects of these pesticides are not only hazardous to humans and land animals but also to economically important aquatic organisms such as fish. One of these extensively used pesticides is an organochlorine insecticide, endosulfan. Experiments conducted in the past have shown the deleterious effects of endosulfan on different aspects of various fish species but its genetic toxicity has not been well studied. The present study was conducted to diagnose the DNA damage induced by endosulfan in peripheral blood erythrocytes of an economically important teleost fish rohu, Labeo rohita (Hamilton, 1822) using comet assay. The fish were exposed to three different sub lethal concentrations (1, 1.5 and 2 µg L-1) of endosulfan for 7, 14, 21 and 28 days. Rohu showed different extents of DNA damage at different concentrations and time, in terms of genetic damage index (GDI), percentage of damaged cells (% damaged cell) and cumulative tail length (µm) of the comets. Increase in DNA damage was observed to be concentration and time-dependent. The current study revealed the severe genotoxic effects of endosulfan in rohu, Labeo rohita. Therefore its discriminate use should be avoided as it can contribute to the decline of rohu in natural habitats. All treatments were considered in triplicates. Since the nauplii  enriched for 9 hours (T9) had the most significant CFU/g compared to other treatments (p<0.05), juvenile beluga at the stage of first feeding with the mean body weight of 48 ± 1 mg (mean ± SE) were fed with nauplii enriched for 9 hours (T9) and the control diet, with three tanks assigned to each diet. No significant differences were observed in final weight, final length, condition factor, specific growth rate, average daily growth, and survival rate for fish fed with T9 compared to those in the control group (p>0.05). On the other hand, a decreasing trend was recorded in food conversion ratio (FCR) and final biomass changed significantly for T9 in comparison with that recorded in the control group (p<0.05). The results indicated that P. acidilactici had a positive effect on growth and survival of beluga larvae, and a different time of enrichment had a significant effect on LAB effect. This study assesses the protective role of vitamin C in fish exposed to ZnO NPs. Two concentrations of ZnO-NPs (40 and 80 mg L-1) and two doses of vitamin C (400 and 800 mg per kg of feed) were used to treat 162 specimens of Oncorhynchus mykiss. No mortality was observed during the test. After 5 and 10 days of exposure, hematological data were analyzed according to routine clinical methods. Statistical analysis showed significant changes in WBCs and RBC on day 10 (p<0.05). Values for HT and MCH were significantly higher in treatment 2 (normal diet+40 mg L-1 ZnO-NPs) and 9 (800 mg/kg Vit + 80 mg L-1 ZnO-NPs), and lower in treatment 3 (normal diet+80 mg L-1 ZnO-NPs) in comparison with the control group (normal diet+0 mg L-1 ZnO-NPs) (P<0.05). No significant differences of MCV and MCHC were observed (p>0.05), while significant increase in neutrophils and monocytes, and decrease in lymphocyte cells were recorded (p<0.05). ZnO-NPs stimulated the immune system of O. mykiss, but this effect did not have any lethality on this species at 40 and 80 mg L-1. The somatic condition was 1.9667 ± 0.1751 for females and 1.9967 ± 0.4205 for males. The observed samples of C. trutta were distributed between I-VI years of age. The length-weigth relationship of females and males were calculated as Log W = -4.6845 + 2.9303 Log FL, Log W = -4.7784 + 2.9746 Log FL, respectively. Water was sampled from a depth of 30 cm during June, July and August 2015, i.e. during the process of planting, growing and after harvesting, in three stations. Water was collected from three points; 20m before the farms, beside the farms and 100m after the farms. Three water samples and one trout fish (Salmo trutta) sample were collected each month and the concentrations of lead and cadmium were measured in the kidney, liver and gills of trout fish. The results showed that the amounts of lead and cadmiumin in the water were less and more than standard levels for these metals, respectively. The average concentrations of cadmium in the water were 15.81, 11.25, 8.92 mg/L during June, July and August, respectively. It is evident that the amount of cadmium in water was significantly higher in June during the planting phase and use of fertilizers and pesticides was more than  the other months (p£0.01). In this study, D. pallescens were collected from Hengam Island in the Persian Gulf. The extracts were produced by Bligh and Dyer method. Broth Dilution Methods were used to check the antimicrobial activity of D. pallescens extracts against Escherichia coli (ATCC 15224), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 25619), Staphylococcus aureus aureus (ATCC 1764), Bacillus subtilis pizizenii (ATCC 6633), Candida albicans (ATCC10231) and Aspergillus fumigates (PTCC5009). The results showed diethyl ether extract has bactericidal activity against S. aureus aureus (MBC=10mg/mL) and B. subtilis spizizenii (MBC=20mg/mL). D. pallescens diethyl ether extract showed a very weak antifungal activity but methanol extract showed fungicidal activity against A. fumigates (MFC=5mg/mL) and C. albicans (MFC=1.5 mg/mL). The use of natural products such as antimicrobials has been reported as a solution to the problem. The crude extract of a red seaweed Laurencia snyderiae obtained from the Persian Gulf was evaluated for shrimp growth performance and to determine in vivo efficacy of this seaweed in the prevention of shrimp Vibriosis. The ethanol extract from L. snyderiae (EELS) that was fed to the Artemia instar I for their enrichment was found to be non toxic to them. Shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei juveniles were fed with these enriched Artemia at 0 mg mL-1 (Control group), 200 mg mL-1, 400 mg mL-1 and 600 mg mL-1 for 30 days. The results obtained showed a significant increase (p<0.05) in survival rate in treatment groups compared with that in the control group. Shrimps fed with enriched Artemia showed a significant improvement in growth parameters when compared to those in the control group. When these juvenile shrimps were exposed to Vibrio harveyi (after 30 days) they showed notably lower mortality than the control. The left side of specimens were photographed using digital camera and morphometric characters, including total length, head length, tail length, trunk length, eye diameter, snout length and body depth were measured using ImageJ software. In GM method, ten landmark-points were digitized on 2D pictures. Allometric growth patterns were calculated as a power function of total length and described by the growth coefficient to reveal important steps in the species’ early life history. The scores of relative warp analysis (RW) were used as descriptors for the variation in shape. The growth patterns obtained by both traditional morphometric (TM) and GM methods showed similar patterns, but GM showed effective results to interpret the morphological changes and revealing larval stages based on the body shape change. The results also showed higher growth rate of head and tail regions up to yolk sac absorption following by isometric patterns, after begin of exogenous feeding. Based on the findings, the early development of this species can be divided into five stages based on its morphology, including newly hatching larvae (up to 48 HPH), younger larvae (156 HPH), older larvae (426 HPH), younger juvenile (666 HPH) and juveniles. In this study the different levels of organic and inorganic source of  selenium were included in juvenile rainbow trout diet to evaluate feed conversion ratio (FCR), specific growth rate (SGR), weight gain percent (WG), condition factor (CF), survival rate (SR) and proximate analysis of the fillet during 60 days of the experiment. The fishes were allotted to 9 treatment groups including, Tc the fishes were fed diet without any selenium, control group, To1, To2 ,To3 and To4 the fishes were fed different dosages of inorganic selenium and Ti1, Ti2, Ti3 and Ti4 those were fed different dose of inorganic Se in their diet. Results showed that To4, showed the highest level of WG from 50±2.8 to 168.54± 25.56 g in comparison to Tc (134.38± 27.26g) (p<0.05). Average initial total length of fishes (19± 1.12 centimeters) increased to 21.1± 1.12 cm in Tc and 22.46± 1.25 cm in To4 significantly (p<0.05). Among all treatments, FCR, SGR, WG, CF and SR were improved in To3 group. Also, depth, temperature, salinity, DO, TOM and sediment particle size were measured in each station. The highest concentration of TOM was measured near the western littoral zone (10.22) while the mouth part and north-eastern area was characterized by the lowest values (2.65 % and 4.69). A total of 31658 individuals belonging to 12 families and 14 species were identified. Polychaeta with 3 species was the most dominant group in terms of abundance. The four most abundant taxa making up 85% of all specimens were Streblospio gynobranchiata, Tubificidae, Hediste diversicolor and Abra segmentum. The maximum density (7,893 ind/m2) was obtained at station 1 while the minimum (1,777 ind/m2) was observed at station 16. The western area was characterized by the highest species diversity (H', 1.94) and the stations 10, 8 and 7 were characterized by the lowest diversity indices (H', 0.72, 0.77 and 0.87, respectively). The PCA showed that water parameters with more temporary variations had a greater significance in explaining the system variability, and a not marked but evident difference between the two parts of Gorgan Bay was observed and supported by nmMDS test. Samples were randomly collected from small-scale shrimp fisheries using bamboo traps. Of the thirteen analyzed morphometrics characters, only the second pleura width significantly varies between males (13.11 mm) and females (14.78 mm). All relationships between the considered variables were significantly linear, r2 ranging from 0.66 to 0.97. For length-length relationships, the allometry coefficient varied depending on groups, environments and characters, and ranged between 0.64 and 1.26. The three allometry types (negative allometry, isometry and positive allometry) were observed in this relation. In length-weight relationship, the coefficient ranged from 2.02 to 2.78, indicating a negative allometry. The condition factor values showed that females (0.70±0.06) were in better condition than males (0.657±0.07). Overall, the condition factor followed an east-west gradient, decreasing from eastern (0.70) to western (0.63) regions. Juveniles of T. grypus (n=480, weighing 45±10 g) were randomly divided into 4 equal  groups (with 3 replications) and fed on diets containing 5×107 cfu g-1 of L. plantarum (G1), L. bulgaricus (G2), L. casei (G3) and a control diet (without probiotic) for 60 continuous days. Results showed that probiotic supplementations had generally significant effects on growth performance (p<0.05). The G2 group had the best effect on specific growth rate (SGR) and feed utilization efficiency in T. grypus. The digestive enzyme activities, on day 30 after feeding, significantly increased in G1 when compared with those in the control group (p<0.05). Significant changes in bacterial intestinal flora were observed in all probiotic groups compared with the control (p<0.05). Our results indicated that supplementation of isolated bacteria from the intestine of T. grypus (i.e., G2) can efficiently improve growth performance, intestinal microbiota and some digestive enzyme activities in juvenile T. grypus. Bee pollen extract in various concentrations (0.5, 2.5, 5, 10, 20 and 30 ppm) was administered to fish for 96 h under aquarium conditions. The malondialdehyde (MDA) levels, total antioxidant status (TAS), total oxidant status (TOS), oxidative stress index (OSI) and levels of total free sulfhydryl groups were investigated in liver, spleen and heart in fish samples. MDA levels in liver, spleen and heart tissues of various concentration groups (2.5, 5, 10, 20 and 30 ppm) decreased (p<0.05) compared to the control group. The highest value of TAS (P<0.05) and the lowest value of TOS (p<0.05) occured in liver and heart tissues of 10 and 20 ppm concentration groups. The lowest levels of OSI were recorded in liver and heart tissues of 10, 20 and 30 ppm concentration groups compared to control group (p<0.05). The highest values of total sulfhydryl groups were recorded (p<0.05) in all tissues of 10 and 20 ppm groups compared with that in the control group. The growth performance, prevalence of Lernaea cyprinacea and ulceration was recorded on a fortnightly basis. The highest final body weight was observed in P4 (413.7 g) followed by P2 (378.7 g) and P1 (359.8 g) compared to P3 (357.8 g). Increase of Lernaea cyprinacea infection in the first half of the study was from 20.51% - 36.25% in P1, 17.75% -25.25% in P2, 6.5% - 10% in P3 and 14.75% - 13.1% in P4. Ulceration percentage in fish was significantly higher during August and September than May to July. Histopathological studies of skin showed a huge difference between healthy and infected fish skin. Hematological parameters such as hemoglobin (Hb), total erythrocytes count (TEC), total leukocyte counts (TLC) and packed cell volume (PCV%) of non-infected fish exhibited significantly higher values than that of infected fish. Other parameters like erythrocytes sedimentation rate (ESR), neutrophils, eosinophils, lymphocytes, basophils, monocytes and thrombocytes of infected fish showed significantly higher values than those of non-infected fish. For this purpose, 35 specimens of adult Caspian brown trout were collected from these rivers in the Mazandarn and Gilan Provinces in fall and winter 2011. Approximately 3-5 g of soft and fresh fin tissue was isolated and fixed in ethanol 96% and then transferred to the Caspian Sea Ecology Research Center Genetics Laboratory in Sari, Iran. Genomic DNA from the samples was extracted using Ammonium Acetate Method. The quality and quantity of the extracted DNA were assessed by spectrophotometer and agarose gel (1%) electrophoresis. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) was performed on the target DNA using a primers sequence D- Loop region of mtDNA molecule. Then the product was purified and DNA sequencing was carried out using chain termination method. The D- Loop region of Caspian trout contained 654 bp. Data were analyzed using Bio-Edit, DnaSP, Arlequin and Mega software. 20 and 15 haplotypes was observed in Sardabrud and Astara River. Tthe DNA sequence of one of them was recorded in Gene Bank with numbers KC991027 and KF015727. 223 and 240 polymorphic loci were detected in Sardabrud and Astara River that all of them were out of Hardy- Weinberg equilibrium (p<0.05). A 527 bp cDNA fragment encoding C terminus part of apoA-I from the skin mucosa of common carp was isolated using RT-PCR. After GenBank database searching, a partial sequence containing a coding sequence (CDS) relating to this gene was found. Overlapping of the cDNA fragment with this CDS allowed us to obtain the full-length sequence including non-coding regions. This sequence has 1170bp including a polyA tail of 18 bp plus 45 and 354 bp at the 3'- and 5'-untranslatedregions, respectively. The complete sequence contained an open reading frame of 256 amino containing 5 amino acid propeptides with a predicted molecular mass of 29.967 kDa and theoretical pI of 6.13.The signal peptide of common carp apoA-I was predicted to have the most likely cleavage site between amino acid positions 17 and 18. Domain analysis of common carp apoA-I showed the conserved domain of Apolipoprotein A1/A4/E between amino acid resides 67 to 251. Three hundred and sixty shrimp of Litopenaeus vannamei, medium body weight (MBW) 1.0±0.17g), were prepared and experimentally exposed. They were distributed among four groups, inclusing vaccinated-virus exposed (T1), vaccinated-nonvirus exposed (T2), virus exposed (Positive control as T3) and non-vaccinated-non-virus exposed (Negative control as T4). The mortality percent of T1 started from day 5 and reached the highest (50%) on day 11 and remained constant until end of the experiment. In T2, no mortality was observed until the 3rd day and the maximum mortality (20%) was observed on day 9. On the other hand, no remarkable mortality was recorded for T4 unlike T3 in which the mortality started on day 2 and stopped on day 7. The minimum density of hyalinocyte was calculated in T4 but the maximum one was found in T3 (17.77±0.33) with no significant differences (p<0.05) compared to T2 (16.59±0.96). A significant difference (p<0.05) was observed between the values of Total Haemocyte Count (THC) before and after exposing to virus in T1. Total Protein Plasma (TPP) decreased to 29.03±3.41, while it was higher than 25.96±2.75 in T3 after 7 days. Such results might be responsible for developing resistance against WSSV in gamma irradiant vaccine in L. vannamei in comparison to T3 while the cause of mortality in T2 could be due to the lower In this regard, the use of this knowledge can be effective in the performance of medicinal plants in aquaculture. In the present study Aloe vera was extracted and its nanoparticles were produced. Three levels of Aloe vera nanoparticles in Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baerii) were evaluated for the effects on growth performance, survival rate and body composition. A total of 360 Siberian sturgeon (A. baerii) with an average of 10.95 ± 0.04 (g) randomly divided into four treatment groups with three replicates each. The treatment groups were fed with diets that included 0% (control), 0.5, 1 and 1.5% of Aloe vera nanoparticles for 60 days. Weight gain, initial body weight, condition factor, feed conversion ratio, specific growth rate, protein efficiency ratio, survival rate, and body composition (protein, lipid, carbohydrate, ash and moisture) were measured and compared among the fish in the different groups. The results showed that growth indices of fish fed the Aloe vera nanoparticles were higher than the control diet, so that the difference between the control group and 1% Aloe vera nanoparticles was more than that in other treatments. In each of the body composition parameters, no significant differences were observed among the treatments and control groups (p>0.05). Sampling was carried out monthly during 2012-2013 using beach sine fishing nets. 102 specimens of different sizes were collected and transferred to the laboratory in boxes containing ice. The age of fish was determined by the number of annual rings as well as, the number of rings in each annual area. The distance between rings in each annual area was also measured. The results showed that the maximum growth was demonstrated in the first and second years. In the first year of life, the scale radius was nearly 2823.3±366.5(µm) which decreased to 1223.9±236.0(µm). The result indicated that 48 percentage of growth scales occurred in the first year and this value is only 21.8% in the second year. The number of growth rings in the annual regions decreased with increase in age. The result demonstrated that the average number of rings was 95.5±17.6 in the first life year of the fish. If you take into account the number of growth ring through years in comparison with the number of days in a year, it is clear  that one ring was nearly made in four days in the first life year and it gradually reached 7.5, 15.9, 21.9 and 31.7 in the second, fourth and sixth years of life, respectively. The randomly sampling was adequate to collect males and females at the immature, mature, spawning-active, and non-active phases of reproduction. Five ovarian and five testicular maturation stages (I–V) were described using macroscopic and light and electron microscopic criteria. Also based on the histological examination, six types of ovarian follicles (A-F) and five types of testicular cells were designated. The largest ovarian follicles were found in the stage V of ovarian developmental stages in females with mean body weight and standard length of 22.27 g and 95.13 mm, respectively. The highest number of sperms was observed in the stage V of testicular developmental stages in males with mean body weight of 25.67 g and mean standard length of 97.83 mm. Groups included one control and 3treatments (T1, T2 and T3).  Fish in control group, T1, T2 and T3 were fed diets supplemented with 0, 1×108, 2×107 and 3×106 chlorella/450 g of food respectively, for sixty days. In addition, a virus supernatant was prepared from infected wild golden grey mullet (Liza auratus) and used for virus challenge of S. trutta caspius. Virus was injected intraperitoneally and blood samples were collected before and 14 days after the challenge. Immunological (IgM, C3, C4, total protein, respiratory burst, albumin and lysozyme) and changes in blood parameters (RBC, WBC, Htc, Hb, MCH, MCHC and MCV) were also measured. Results showed that C. vulgaris could act as a natural immunestimulant. Also, the alteration trend in hematological and immunological parameters showed that experimental fish could be considered to be resistant to VNN virus after exposure and fish treated with C. vulgaris were more resistant in comparison to those in the control group. Among the 689 specimens studied, age groups in males ranged from 1+ to 9+ and that in females ranged from 1+ to 10+. The sex ratio (1M:1.6F) was not significantly different from 1:1 ratio. Maximum fork length and weight was 39 cm and 1,115 g for males and 54.2 cm and 2,340 g for females. In all age classes, females were larger than males. The most frequent age groups were 3+ in males and 4+ in females. The highest value for condition factor was observed in June. The growth of C. damascina was described by von Bertalanffy growth curve as k=0.01, L∞=56.2 cm, to=-0.63 for males and k = 0.05, L∞=117.1 cm and to =-0.43 years for females. The length-weigh relationship was described as W=0.0169L2.95 (r2=0.98) for males and as W=0.0155L2.99 (r2=0.99) for females, indicating an isometric growth pattern in both sexes. Hence, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the optimum level of dietary protein in commercial feeds for growth improvement. Three commercial feeds with different levels of protein i.e. 20%, 25%, and 30%, were tested in this study. A total of nine semi-concrete ponds were used and each pond was stocked with 15 mahseer fingerlings. The experimental fish were fed at a ratio of 3% of body weight twice a day for 60 days. The ANOVA tests revealed that dietary protein levels significantly affected growth performance, protein efficiency ratio, protein retention efficiency and lipid content in carcass but did not significantly affect survival rate and protein content in the carcass (p>0.05). All the experimental diets were well accepted by the fish. No mortality was observed during the experimental period. Diet 3 resulted in the highest weight gain and SGR values of 8.74±0.18 and 2.43±0.04% respectively. FCR and PER values obtained for Diet 3 were also better compared to that with other diets. Although there were no significant differences in crude protein content among fishes fed different diets (Diet 1 to Diet 5), fish fed Diet 3 showed significant (p<0.05) increase in crude protein content at the end of the experiment. There were no difference in FCR: 1.80±0.08 and 1.76±0.06, protein efficiency: 1.46±0.01 and 1.45±0.05, SGR: 2.38±0.04 and 2.38±0.03, final production: 2853.58±64.14 and 2864.83±168.57 kg/ha and survival rate: 91±1.78, 92±2.41% between experimental and control treatments, respectively (p>0.05) but net protein utilization in experimental treatment (17.05±0.38 g) and in the control (11.80±0.26 g) revealed significant differences (p<0.05). The species has been studied widely for various aspects but genetic studies are scanty. This preliminary study contributes to the species phylogeography through the study of the genetic diversity and historical demography of N. japonicus populations from the Persian Gulf and Indo-West Pacific based on cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene sequence. Grouping of the data into phylogenetic trees indicated that the Japanese threadfin bream consists of two reciprocally monophyletic phylogroups with 2.3% net sequence divergence which may qualify as cryptic species: clade I, consists of two sub-clades (Ia and Ib) occurs in the Persian Gulf and Western India, and clade II, which is restricted to the South China Sea. Historical and demographic hypotheses were raised to explain the observed phylogeographic pattern and population structure. Among the possible key mechanisms, sea level fluctuations driven by glacial episodes of the second half of the Pleistocene Epoch appear to have played an active role in initiating major phylogeographic separation. Apart from presumptive Pleistocene vicariance, a trend of increasing genetic differences with increasing geographic distance (i.e., isolation-by-distance) and regional differences in breeding season were also proposed as possible alternative scenarios. Sixty apparently healthy rainbow trout with an approximate weight of 150 g ±3.5 were randomly divided into treatment and control groups. Physical and chemical conditions of water were adjusted to optimal for fish farming and sampling was done after 3 months. The results showed that feed conversion ratio in the control group was significantly (p<0.05) lower than that in the treatment group. The total number of intestinal bacteria was significantly reduced in the treatment group (p<0.05), but the amount of this reduction in Lactobacillus spp. was lower than other bacteria. The oxidative status of fish fillet in the treatment group was not significantly different from that in the control group (p>0.05) after 1 and 7 days cold storage (3°C). Whilst proximate composition comprised of fat, moisture, and protein contents and colour comprised of L*, a*, b* and metric chroma (C), the texture comprised of adhesiveness, fracturability and hardness parameters. Essentially, increasing ozone exposures were safely discharged via commercially available domestic ozone facility. Notably, the storage study lasted for up to eleven days. The results showed that the differences in proximate contents appeared superficial with increasing ozone exposures and iced storage. However, it was the colour, adhesiveness and fracturability attributes that showed noticeable effects (p<0.05) even though the hardness texture resembled in some tested samples (p>0.05). It is plausible that the behavior of adhesiveness and fracturability of ozone-processed shrimp samples may well be complementing those of hardness textures. The protein and heavy metal (Zn, Cu, Ni) activities were determined spectrophotometrically. The proximate analysis of L. rohita collected from different localities of Pakistan revealed that the protein (19.97%) and ash contents (1.76%) were highest in hatchery L. rohita while the fat (0.84%), carbohydrate (5.39%) and dry matter contents (24.11%), were maximum in the river L. rohita. In comparison to the hatchery and river L. rohita, the moisture contents (81.42%) were the highest in farmed fish. During enzymatic analysis, maximum activities of the peroxidase, α- amylase and mutarotase were recorded in hatchery fish whereas the catalase and superoxide dismutase activities were found to be the highest in farmed fish. The maximum accumulation of Cu and Ni metals were observed in hatchery fish and least in farmed fish and the highest Zn accumulation was observed in river fish. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used to determine the most suitable type of fish for households. The main aim of this study was to determine the factors that influence the type of fish chosen and the most desired type of fish for consumers. The households consist of 4.5 individuals on average, with fish consumption at 6.5 kg per annum per capita. Their choice of fish was based on taste (38.4%), nutrition (23.5%),   price (21.4%) and fishbone (16.7%).. Considering these criteria, the most desired type of fish for the consumers was Anchovy. 28.4% of households prefer Anchovy, 20.3% prefer Trout, 16.7% prefer Sea Bream, 12.5% prefer Horse Mackerel (Scad), 11.2% prefer Sea Bass and 10.9% prefer Atlantic Bonito. On day 30 and 60, the fish growth rates were measured, pituitary growth hormone (GH) mRNA levels and serum GH concentrations were examined by real-time qPCR and ELISA technique, respectively. From day 0 to day 30, there were significant decreases in specific growth rates and relative weight gains at higher densities (95 and 125 kg/m3) compared to that at lower densities (35 and 65 kg/m3), whereas no significant effects of stocking density on the two indexes during the day 30−60 were detected. On day 30, GH mRNA levels were unaffected by stocking density, while on day 60, GH mRNA levels were significantly lower at the density of 125 kg/m3 than in the two lower densities. Serum GH concentration increased with decreasing stocking densities but only significantly between 35 kg/m3 and the other treatments on day 30. However, there were no significant differences between two lower densities as well as between 65 kg/m3 and 95 kg/m3 treatments on day 60. In Experiment 1, five isocaloric diets (4700 kcal per kg) ranging from 40 to 60% protein in 5% increments were fed to triplicate groups of lemon fin barb hybrid larvae (initial weight: 0.10 ± 0.01 mg per fish) for 21 days. Weight gain of fish was proportional to the protein content of the diet up to an incorporation rate of 50%. Among formulated diets, the diet with 50% protein produced the highest weight gain (4.26 ± 0.03 mg). The dietary protein level that yielded maximum growth was 52.1% based on a broken-line model estimation of weight gain. Based on these results, two dietary protein levels (50% and 55%) were used along with three energy levels (4500, 4700 and 4900 kcal per kg diet) at each protein level in Experiment 2. The survival of fish fed diets containing 55% protein was significantly lower (p<0.05) than that of fish fed diets containing 50% protein regardless of the energy level. Weight gain of fish was significantly (p<0.05) different at all dietary protein and energy levels. Twenty four zooplankton taxa were identified, and the different zooplankton groups represented twenty-one families. Copepoda was recorded with the most abundance (53.30 %) followed by Malacostraca (32.87 %), which in turn was followed by Sagittoidea (7.44 %) and Appendicularia (6.39%). A major peak of 189.34 N/m3 was observed in February-2016 with 53.25% contribution from Copepoda. Among Copepoda, Labidocera sp. was the major contributor to this peak. Appendicularia was the comparatively less represented group, being chiefly represented by Oikopleura dioica.  Labidocera sp., Oithona  plumifera which were common in most of the stations. This common distribution were observed for Malacostraca, namely Lucifer hanseni (mysis I), Upogebia sp. (zoea I), Parthenope sp., Ilyoplax frater( zoea VI), for Sagittoidea, namely Sagitta enflata, Sagitta neglecta and for Appendicularia, namely Oikopleura dioica. The mean Shannon's diversity index (H') and evenness were 1.36±0.43 and, 0.68±1.17, respectively. All length-weight relationships were significant (p<0.05), with r2 higher than 0.819. The five species viz. C. gracilis, P. parva, C.keyvani, P. cyrius, and B. cyri showed allometric (b<3<b) while two species viz. A. microlepis and A. eichwaldii showed isometric (b=3) growth patterns. Condition factor ranged from 0.57 (in C.keyvani) through 1.11 (in P.cyrius). All linear regressions were highly significant (p<0.05). In this study, the effects of sub lethal levels of aluminum on metabolic enzymes, Aspartate aminotransferase, Alanine aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase (AST, ALT and ALP) in organs including gills, liver and muscles of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) were evaluated after 24, 48, 72 and 96 h exposure under laboratory conditions. Tissue extracts were prepared from each group. Enzymes were measured using commercial kits and auto-analyzer Selectra-PRO. According to statistical data analysis, it was found that the activity of this enzyme in tissues increased significantly compared to that in the control group. AST enzymes in the liver and muscle increased significantly but were reduced at 96 h. ALP levels in muscle tissue significantly increased at 72 h but were reduced at 96 h. The alterations in the activities of these enzymes indicated that the presence of aluminum interfered with transamination and metabolic process in tissues. Each group was run in triplicate. The PA-group and EF-group showed significant improvement with respect to WG, SGR, FCR, PER, lactic acid bacteria (LAB) (%) in intestinal, intestinal colonization (log CFU g–1), survival (%), RBCs, WBCs, hematocrit percentage (Hct %), and respiratory burst activity (RBA) levels, each of which was significantly higher than that in the control group (p<0.05). In this study the optimum pH for protein extraction from tuna by-products was optimized by using isoelectric solubilization and precipitation processes. The Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and the single factor model were used for optimization of the protein extraction process. From  ANOVA (one-factor design) tests, significant effects were detected for process variables, functional properties and stability between tuna protein isolate prototypes extracted at acidic and alkaline pH, the latter having the least Total Volatile Basic Nitrogen (TVB-N) and Thiobarbituric Acid Reactive Substances (TBARS), but the highest Water Holding Capacity (WHC), hardness, cohesiveness, springiness and viscosity values. The highest yield percentage was found for the alkaline aided process, too. The alkali-aided process recovered proteins of higher whiteness than the acid-aided process. Accordingly the optimum pH of protein extraction was obtained. The model was then validated and maximized based on the functional properties, stability and recovery yield data. Under the optimized pH, the experimental values were in good agreement with those predicted by the software. Then the properties of the optimum prototypes were compared to the fish protein isolated from different by-products. For the first time, we studied the population characteristics of gibel carp in Lake Madatapa (South Georgia) with the aim to reveal the extent of its morphological variability, sex ratio, length-weight relationship and its parasitic community. We showed that the gibel carp population in Madatapa Lake has typical morphological characteristics. The sex ratio is significantly female biased (1/1.8) and the length-weight relationship is within the published margins. The gibel carp population is under the heavy parasitic load, but only two parasitic species (one cestoda and the other digenean species) affect the fishes. Mainly three trials were conducted to determine the effectiveness of copper sulfate against this snail sp. in laboratory aquaria conditions. Trial I involved the copper sulfate treatment sprayed directly for reductions of snails present on the upper moist layer of soil. Trial II was demonstrated for reductions of the snail densities buried under the depth of 8-16 inch layer of soil. Trial III was managed to study the copper sulfate toxicity on the survival of snails and Labeo rohita present together in the same aquatic media. (FA) and their combinations on growth performance, haematological parameters and non-specific immune response of Acipenser nudiventris. 210 individuals (initial body weight: 12.84± 1.53g) were fed seven practical diets: the basal diet as the control diet was supplemented with two levels of P.acidilactici (2 and 3 g per kg diet), FA (2 and 4 mg per kg diet) and their combinations. The results showed that the group fed a combined diet of P. acidilactici and FA (4 mg FA+3 g P. acidilactici per kg diet) showed significant increase in body weight increase (BWI), specific growth rate (SGR), feed conversion ratio (FCR) and condition factor (CF). However, experimental diets had no significant effects on survival rate. Both haematological indices and leucocyte counts were significantly (p<0.05) influenced by dietary P. acidilactici and FA and their combinations. In the group fed 4 mg FA+3 g P. acidilactici, lysozyme activity and total immunoglobulin (Ig) levels significantly increased compared to those fed other diets (p<0.05). Moreover, the fish fed diets supplemented with 2 mg FA+ 3 g P. acidilactici per kg diet had considerably higher immunoglobulin (IgM) level (p<0.05). The fish were hand-fed once a day with diet medicated AE or placebo (70 % lactose, 10 % starch and 20 % talc) at a rate of 1% of feed weight in the first feeding for 8 weeks. At the end of the identical every two weeks (2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks) 24 h after feeding, some of immunological and hematological parameters were analyzed. The results showed that serum total protein, albumin and globulin, respiratory burst activity, phagocytic activity and serum lysozyme activity vary among the two treatment groups which were found to be higher in the AE-treated group (p<0.05). However, there were no significant differences in none of hematological parameters between two groups. It was concluded that supplementation of AE at a rate of 1% in feed registered higher immunological responses in compared to placebo group. Therefore, supplementation of AE in fish diet would enhance the immunity responses in fish. The accumulation of heavy metals in bivalve tissues is affected by a number of intrinsic and extrinsic factors such as physiological conditions, growth, seasonal changes, pH, salinity, temperature, genera and age. The present study investigated the effects of age of the rock oyster Saccostrea cucullata on the accumulation of Ni, Cd and Pb in the Laft Port coast located on the Qeshm Island. 200 oysters were collected and their age was determined, then they were classified into four age categories and 15 oysters from each category were selected. Samples were dry digested and the metal concentrations were measured by an ICP-OES (PerkinElmer, USA) instrument. Results revealed that the accumulation of Ni and Pb in one year old oysters (immature) was more than those in mature oysters (two, three and four year old oysters). Significant differences were observed between concentrations of Ni and Pb in mature and immature oysters. The samples were collected during sexual maturity (in the fall) and sexual rest (in the spring). The mean concentration of lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, and chromium in the muscle tissue were 1.40, 0.43, 0.16, 0.07 and 0.54 µg/g, respectively during sexual maturity and 1.90, 0.93, 0.24, 0.12 and 0.61 µg/g, respectively during sexual rest. Generally, the uptake of heavy metals during sexual rest was higher (Pb>Cd>Cr>Hg>As) than that (Pb>Cr>Cd>Hg>As) during sexual maturity. Pollutants are effective in the accumulation of heavy and toxic metals in L. aurata in the Caspian Sea during different seasons. The concentration pattern of the metals in the three tissues was as follows: liver>gill>muscle. The difference between the concentrations of the metals in studied tissues was significant. A highly significant correlation between the elements in tissues was observed in both sexual periods. The number of methods employed to collect blood from fish include; the puncture of caudal vein, dorsal aorta or cardiac vessels and the severance of the caudal vein. Unfortunately, all these procedures are practically found to be slow and stressful to Clarias batrachus, including the popular caudal vein approach, likely due to the small size of caudal veins relative to the size of the species. In line with the universal ethical recommendations for taking blood from small research animals, we propose an alternative one-operator approach for C. batrachus that is simple, rapid and without the need to sacrifice the fish as with other methods. This procedure targets the dorsal aorta (a relatively larger blood vessel) in a sedated fish, punctured by inserting a needle directly from the anterior part of the anal fin about 2-5 mm behind the genital papilla, to draw the desired amount of blood. The technique is a one-operator procedure not requiring the help of an assistant or any special equipment to restrain the fish. The operation of the protocol is unique since it permits the continuous collection of blood from the same experimental fish over a varied time course and reduces the need for a large number of replicate animals. Results showed that mean concentrations of heavy metals were high in liver and gills of E. orientali. Also heavy metals had the most accumulation in liver of E. orientali. Target tissue for accumulation of Ni, V, Cu and Pb were gills and liver in E. orientali and C. nudus. In tissues of two fish species fillet has the minimum concentration level of trace elements. The concentrations of heavy metals were lower than legal limits in the fillet (edible part), except for Pb that was higher than permitted limits for human consumption. Bioaccumulation factors (BAFs) were determined for different tissues of fish species with respect to elemental concentrations in sediment. Results of BAFs indicated that all BAFs in liver were more than that in gills which were higher than that in fillet. We evaluated the histopathological changes in zebrafish larval tissues following embryonic exposure to MgONPs for a period of 4-96 h post fertilization (hpf). To this end; fixation, tissue processing, sectioning and general staining of the whole-larvae were performed. Histopathological evaluations showed some changes including psoriasis-like epithelial hyperproliferation, muscle cell degeneration, neurodegeneration in the spinal cord, swelling and edematous changes in pericardium, swelling and edematous changes in yolk sac, severe edema within the eyes, smaller retina, disruption of retinal lamination and impaired retinal differentiation. A spatial-temporal study was conducted in order to assess the actual ecological status of the creeks, estuary and marine sites on the basis of their taxonomic composition and density of mesozooplankton. Zooplankton species distribution and abundance data at 6 sampling sites during June 2015 - March 2016 revealed 24 taxa represented by 5 divergent groups. During the study period, high salinities (around 35-47) were recorded, characterizing all systems as a coastal-marine ecosystem, rather than true estuarine.     The mesozooplankton assemblage was characterized by the dominant marine Copepod, Labidocera sp., zoeas of coastal/marine crab, Ilyoplax frater, marine copepod Acartia fossae and a marine pelagic tunicate, Oikopleura dioica. Copepods were the main dominant group and Labidocera sp the most abundant species, with high abundances in winter, whereas high abundances of the Ilyoplax frater were noticed in summer. Based on SIMPER analyses, highest dissimilarity was observed between Ramleh and Lashkary and discriminating taxa for all sites were Labidocera sp followed by Ilyoplax frater contributing to more than 68% of the total average dissimilarities for all locations. The multivariate BIO–ENV procedure indicated that Labidocera sp. followed by Acartia fossae strongly correlated to the variability of depth, transparency and salinity. Broodstocks were obtained by rearing of 7 wild juveniles (587.57 ± 132.63 g body weight) which were caught from the north of Persian Gulf in October 2008 and reared to December 2012.. Captured juvenile fishes were fed using defrosted trash fish at a rate of 4-6 percent of body weight per day.. Four-year-old fishes spawned spontaneously, when average weight of females and males were about 7020 ± 1277 g and 5128 ± 253g respectively. Effects of four temperature ranges (23-24, 26-27, 28-29 and 31-32 °C ) and three tank size ( 40L, 300L and 2400L) on hatching and survivle rates were examined. Eggs were stocked as a density of 25 Eggs L-1. Effects of tank size on hatching rate and survival of larvae were assessed at 1, 5, 10, 20 and 30 days after hatching (DAH).  The optimal temperature range for hatching was 28-29 °C. No difference was observed among hatching rates of fish within the various tank sizes. Survival rates of larvae in 2400L fiber glass tanks until 30 days after hatching were significantly higher than the other tanks. Here a polysaccharide extract from Halophila ovalis (HO) seagrass was added to feeds at concentrations of 0.25, 0.5, and 1.0 g[a1] /kg to assess its ability to protect Black Tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) against WSSV challenge. Following feeding on these diets for 25 days, P. monodon were challenged by muscle injection and monitored for 21 days. On Day 0 and on Days 7 and 21 post-injection (pi), total haemocyte counts (THC), total protein concentrations, prophenoloxidase activity and respiratory burst activity were compared using haemolymph collected from 10 shrimp. All shrimp fed the basal diet died by Day 7 pi but survival times were extended among shrimp fed diets containing HO polysaccharide (HOP), and significantly at concentrations of 0.5 or 1 gkg-1. Concomitantly with improved survival, all haemolymph immune parameters examined were enhanced significantly (p<0.05) among shrimp fed diets containing higher amounts of HOP. WSSV infection loads determined by real-time PCR were also lowered. Samples were gathered every two months, from five stations using a Surber sampler( 30×30cm), fixed in formalin (4%) and then separated and identified in the laboratory. Environmental conditions (current velocity, temperature, depth, width, dissolve oxygen, conductivity, pH, alkalinity, Total Suspended Solids (TSS) and grain size) were measured. In addition, diversity and biotic indices were used to determine the water quality of the river. Results showed that 5 classes, 9 orders and 20 families were identified in this river. The families Hydropsychidae (Trichoptera), Simuliidae (Diptera) and Baetidae (Ephemeroptera) were dominant. Shannon-wiener and Simpson indices showed the highest diversity at station 1 and the lowest diversity in station 4. Total lipid content was related to the five sites of catch (p<0.05), ranging from 7.18 g 100g-1 for Algiers to 10.07g 100g-1 for Beni saf. The fatty acid composition of S. pilchardus shows a high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) dominated by n-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA C20:5 n-3) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA C22:6n-3) with maximum rates of 15.75% and 33.42%, respectively (p<0.05). The saturated fatty acid (SFA) content was important in different samples of sardines, ranging from 35.50% to 41.32% according to sites of capture (p< 0.05). To achieve this objective, 462 fish were considered which were divided into 7 test groups including 6 groups of fishes (with an initial average weight of 0.6 ± 0.05 g and length of 2.3±0.35 cm) fed diets containing 6 levels of S.O (D1(3), D2(5), D3(8), D4(10), D5(12), D6(14)%) and the control group (CG) (receiving an oil-free diet) for 12 weeks with biometry intervals of 15 days. At the end of the test period, growth performance and nutritional parameters were measured. The study showed that the maximum weight was in fish fed diet containing 8% of S.O and also the maximum specific growth rate (SGR) (D3, p<0.05) was obtained for this group. The highest rate of daily weight gain (DWG) was obtained for D3 which was significantly (p<0.05) much more than that for D4, D6 and D5 (the lowest increase). The highest length gain (LG) was observed in D3 which was significantly more (p<0.05) in comparison with the other treatments tested. The survival rate was over 80% in all test groups and showed no significant difference (p>0.05). At the end of the period, fish were evaluated for estimated analysis of the tissue. Plankton sampling from inshore and offshore sites and the exposed and sheltered sides of the reefs resulted in the collection of 2048 larvae representing 49 different fish taxa belonging to 11 orders and 36 families of fish. The overall density of fish larvae at all sites was calculated as the larvae numbers in 1000m-3 and there was a significant difference in larval density between sites and months. Most larvae were collected in the warmer months of the year from May to August. The inshore sheltered site (H3) is significantly different from all other sites in having the highest density with 2824 larvae 1000 m-3, whereas the inshore exposed site had the lowest density of all sites (621 larvae 1000 m-3). Number of species varies significantly among sites. Data of the seasonal and regional occurrence of fish larvae obtained from the present work could be very valuable for fisheries management. At 96 h after exposure, the number of erythrocytes (RBC), leucocyte (WBC), hematocrit (Hct), hemoglobin (Hb), the differential leukocyte count in blood and alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST) activity, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, cortisol and lactate in serum were measured. The results revealed feeding a thyme essential oil diet significantly conferred resistance to oxidative stress with sub-acute toxicity of Ag-NPs. Thyme essential oil enhanced the RBC and WBC count, hematocrit and hemoglobin content, at both low (T400) and high doses (T800). Biochemical analysis showed that serum ALT and AST activities, and LDL-cholesterol in the thyme essential oil-added feed groups were significantly reduced with increasing dietary thyme essential oil. Plasma HDL-cholesterol was significantly elevated by a high-dose of dietary thyme essential oil (T800). Furthermore, cortisol and lactate levels in serum significantly decreased throughout the thyme essential oil-added feed groups compared to the control. In the headwaters the magnitude values of BOD5, COD and early morning oxygen minima were quite identical to the recommended optimum levels. However the concentrations of :::union:::ized ammonia in winter and spring and the concentration of nitrite in summer and autumn exceeded the allowable levels cited in different literature and might have exerted some growth retarding or lethal effects on the fish population. Water quality, zooplankton, benthos and sediments were monitored at sites of 20 m depths to determine the effects of rainbow trout cage culture on the lake environment. Oxygen depletion occurred in the vicinity of the farms due to respiration of the farmed fish. Zooplankton had stronger nutritional value in all six ecosystems of the Hanna Reservoir, and in seasons during which fish feed on these nutritional sources, breeding occurs with higher efficiency. Benthic invertebrates were rare at all six sites of the lake. Binder properties of seaweeds in different diet pellets were evaluated.  In laboratory conditions, 480 shrimp juveniles (initial weight=3 gram) acclimated in 16 plastic tanks, fed 4% of their biomass daily. During the 45 day digestibility experiment, biometric indices were measured at 15 day intervals to assess the growth performances. Based on physicochemical analysis of water at 2 day intervals, effective parameters were maintained at a required range for the wellbeing of the shrimp during the experiment. Results of the experiment show that Sargassum sp. can be used as a binder in shrimp feed ingredients with significant differences between treatment pellet stability and water absorbance percent in sea water.Although initial biomass, SGR and survival rate showed no differences between treatments, but final biomass , biomass gain, FCR, shrimp flesh color and cholesterol levels revealed significant differences between treatments (p<0.05). Mollusks are remarkably appropriate to be used as bio-indicators because of their motionless or almost sessile nature, relatively high abundance, selective absorption of certain ions, and worldwide distribution in marine and inland aquatic habitats. Chiton lamyi is a sedentary species from the phylum, Polyplacophora, which is usually abundant on the rocky shores and intertidal zone of marine environments. Sediment and Chiton samples were taken from four stations of Chabahar Bay in autumn 2013. After acid digestion of samples, the concentration of heavy metals (mercury, cadmium, arsenic, nickel, lead and copper) were measured by the graphite furnace atomic absorption apparatus, and the bioaccumulation factor in relation to sediment was calculated. The highest concentration value was calculated as 3.28 for cadmium in the Hafte Tir station. ERM is caused by the gram negative pathogen bacteria Yersinia ruckeri that has five O-serotypes (O1, O2, O5, O6 and O7), five outer membrane protein types (OMP types 1–5) and two biotypes 1 and 2. The disease has a wide geographical distribution in various fresh or sea water fish. More than twenty species mainly of Salmonide origin have been affected and this number is likely to rise in the future following the introduction of new species and the increase of aquaculture trade. The disease can affect fish of all age classes but is most acute in small fish up to fingerling size. Affected fish may reveal different clinical symptoms depending on species, age and temperature. The most characteristic and common clinical signs of the disease include lethargic behavior and inactivity, swimming near the surface, anorexia, and darkening of the skin. The reddening of the throat and mouth, caused by subcutaneous haemorrhaging and exophthalmos are commonly present. Different diagnostic methods have been used for Y. ruckeri, including culturing, serological, biochemical tests, histopathological studies and molecular techniques. For this purpose, 543 speciments (353 females, 159 males and 31 immature) were caught using seine net (5 mm mesh size) and a cast net. Age groups of males and females were 0+ to 5+. The most frequent age group was 2+ in both sexes. The sex ratio was 1M:2.2F (p<0.01). Males outnumbered the females in younger age classes and females outnumbered the males in older age groups. The highest condition factor was observed in April for males and in March for females. The mean condition factor (CF) was not significantly different between the sexes among all fish during different months (p>0.05). The largest female was 16.80 cm in total length and 49.12 g in weight, while the largest male was 14.10 cm in total length and 28.19 g in body weight. The length-weight relationship was calculated as W = 0.0169L3.0355 (r2=0.95) for males, W=0.0061L 3.1751 (r2=0.98) for females and W=0.0066L3.139 (r2=0.99) for all fish (males, females and immature). This study comprised nine treatments (with three replications) including control treatment: polychaete worm (Perinereis nuntia), Squid and calf liver (natural feed); T1: pellet feed with 50% crude protein and 8% crude lipid+ Perinereis nuntia, Squid and calf liver; T2: pellet feed with 50% crude protein and 10% crude lipid+ Perinereis nuntia, Squid and calf liver;  T3: pellet feed with 40% crude protein and 10% crude lipid+ Perinereis nuntia, Squid and calf liver; T4: pellet feed with 40% crude protein and 8% crude lipid+ Perinereis nuntia, Squid and calf liver Perinereis nuntia;  T5: pellet feed with 50% crude protein and 10% crude lipid; T6: pellet feed with 50% crude protein and 8% crude lipid; T7: pellet feed with 40% crude protein and 10% crude lipid; T8: pellet feed with 40% crude protein and 8% crude lipid. In treatments 1, 2, 3 and 4, 50% of the natural diets were removed and pellet foods used instead. The amount of pellet feeds that given daily, was 3.5% of shrimp broodstock biomass. In treatments 5, 6, 7 and 8, the amount of pellet feeds that given daily was 7.5% daily. Feeding was done 4 times a day. GSI in the control (3.23%), treatment 3 (3.20%) and treatment 6 (3.02%) were significantly higher than that in the other treatments (p<0.05). Absolute fecundity in the control (29980 eggs) and treatment 3 (29683 eggs) was significantly higher than other treatments (p<0.05). HSI reached the lowest level in treatment 8 (2.14%). But in treatments 3 and 5 was more than control, but did not any statistical significant (p>0.05). Survival rate in the treatment 8 (26.66%) was significantly lower than other treatments (p<0.05). Juveniles were divided into two groups: a food-deprived group and a control group at 9 day after hatch (DAH). Individuals were sampled at 14, 20, 29 DAH. During the 20 d fasting period, the mean body weight and total body length of crayfish fluctuated around 10.17 mg and 8.12mm respectively, and the mortality was zero. Histomorphological changes of digestive system were observed in the food-deprived group after 20 days of starvation: the esophagus and stomach walls were thinning, the epithelium atrophied to cuboidal, nuclei were darker and smaller, and nucleolus was difficult to observe; the midgut and hindgut showed wider volume, thinning wall, atrophied epithelial and muscularis and shorter ridges; and hepatopancreas tubule lumens were wider, the lipid droplets in R-cells were smaller and less, and the quantity of typical B-cells decreased. Changes in the ultrastructure of starved crayfish were also observed: the mitochondria of midgut epithelium and R-cells were swollen and vacuolated, and the ridges of which were fractured and reduced. In addition, the electron density of cytoplasmic matrix of R-cells decreased, and the quantity of glycogen granules and lipids also decreased. Changes in the ultrastructure of B-cells were similar to those of R-cells. A total of 360 Siberian sturgeon weighing on average 10.95±0.04 g were randomly distributed in four treatments including a control group and three experimental groups (each with three replications).  A. vera extract powder at the rate of 0.5%, 1% and 1.5% were added to the food. The fish were fed for 60 days in fiberglass tanks. At the end of the first and second months of breeding, the necessary samplings for hematological studies were done. The physicochemical parameters of water were recorded every day. The results showed significant differences (p<0.05) in the amount of RBC, hemoglobin, MCV, WBC, lysozyme and ACH50 in the treatments compared to the control group at the end of the breeding period. The seaweed was collected from coastal areas, rinsed, dried, powdered and the nutritional values were measured in the laboratory. A part of protein resources of shrimp feed replaced with seaweed powder in four treatments (D: as control without any replacement) C: with 5%, B: 10 % and A: 15% seaweed replacement, each with three replicates in order to obtain isonitrogenus 33% CP., and Isocaloric (13% fat and 15% carbohydrate) feed.  Dried diets were used according to the daily need of shrimp, calculated after each 10 day biometry. Water stability and absorption capacity of the pellets in sea water were measured and compared statistically. Juvenile shrimps (Initial body weight=3 g) were acclimated for one week under hatchery conditions and were fed 3-5% of their body weight. Abiotic parameters, weight and length biometry were measured on day two and day 10, respectively. After 45 days final biometry, body analysis were measured, and muscle colorimeter were conducted using HPLC. There were no significant differences (p>0.05) between body lipid among treatments, but cholesterol content (mg/100gWW) showed significant differences (p<0.05), the lowest (121.68±12.12) was in treatment A, and the highest in D (147.92±11.02).  Treatments A and B showed color changes to pink- partial orange and pink in shrimp muscle with no differences compared to white and no color in shrimp in treatments C and D. A total of 150 specimens of beluga were randomly selected and DNA was isolated from caudal fin using modified salting out method. Then two fragments of 171 and 362 bp from 5'-UTR and 3'-UTR regions of IGF-I gene were amplified, respectively. Genotyping of individuals by SSCP technique showed five banding patterns of A, B, C, D and E for 5'-UTR region with the frequencies of 29.2, 0.76, 16.92, 51.53 and 10% respectively in one year-old and three banding patterns of A, C and D with the frequency of 45, 10 and 45% for two year-old fish. Also three banding patterns (A, B and C) were seen for 3'-UTR region with the frequency of 62.3, 27.69 and 10.76% in one-year-old and 20, 60 and 20% in two year-old fish. The A banding pattern  in 3'-UTR and D banding pattern in 5'-UTR sites were the most frequent pattern in the studied beluga population. The association analysis using SAS statistical software indicated no significant association between observed banding patterns and growth traits (body length, weight, and condition factor) in beluga. Metallothionein (MT) is one of that which represents a critical mechanism for detoxification of metals.The sterlet (Acipenser ruthenus) is a bottom feeding sturgeon specie and because the fish are dependent on invertebrate species for food throughout their life cycle, the sterlet could be a good indicator of the quality of the state of water ecosystem. Addition of copper to water leads to the induction of MT. The present study analyzed MTgene that was excreted from the liver of sterlet  exposed to sub-lethal copper concentrations (0.075 mgL-1). To begin to elucidate the molecular mechanism(s) of sensitivity of sturgeons to metals, a RNA encoding MT was purified from livers of sterlet, then a cDNA was synthesized and the MTgene was amplified. The primary structure of sterlet metallothionein (S-MT) contained 20 cysteine residues, which is the same as MTs of teleost fishes. However, the primary structure of S-MT contained 63 amino acids, which is longer than any MT identified in teleost fishes but similar to Lake sturgeon and White sturgeon. The complete nucleotide sequence of the S-MTgene has been detected. The experimental treatments were ponds containing T1: M. spicatum, T2: C. demersum, T3: A. filiculoides, T4: L. minor, T5: C. dactylon, T6: M. sativa and T7: M. Spicatum + C. demersum + A. filiculoides + L. minor + C. dactylon + M. sativa. 12 grass carps (20 g) were added to each experimental pond. After 5 months, the fish body composition was assessed. According to results, the higher values of fish weight gain rate were obtained in treatments T4 (3.13 g), T6 (2.93 g) and T1 (2.95 g) compared to other experimental groups (p<0.05). Also, the highest percentage of body protein and lipid content were observed in T4 and T1. In addition, the biomass and percentage of examined plants decreased after delivery of grass carps to each pond over the course of the experiment, but higher decreases were recorded for T4 and T1. The mean values of relative growth rate were higher in T4 and mixture of all plants (p<0.05). Also, the highest fish biomass was recorded in T1 and T4 (p<0.05). Acute exposure was conducted in sea water with different concentrations of selected nanoparticles at 24h, 48h, 72h and 96h. The mortality rate of A. francisca increased significantly with increasing concentrations and duration of exposure of all NPs. The toxicity pattern of metal oxides to A. francisscana was as follows: CuO>TiO2>ZnO. Sampling was carried out at five different stratum and depths. The highest value of CPUA of Haemulidae was estimated for Pomadasys stridens in “B” stratum (885.78 kg nm-2), for Pomadasys kaakan at depths of 10-20 m  (330.35 kg nm-2), and for Nemipteridae it was estimated for Nemipterus japonicus in “D” stratum (1042.31 kg nm-2) at 30-50 m depths (1734.97 kg nm-2), and for Ariidae, it was estimated for Netuma thalassina in the stratum B (752.64 kg nm-2) at 20-30 m depths (428.33 kg nm-2). The highest biomass for Haemulidae was estimated in stratum B (320.53 ton) at 50-100 m depths (282.98 tons), and for Nemipteridae in “D” stratum (559.72 tons) and at depths of 30-50 m (604.04 tons), and for Ariidae it was estimated in “B” stratum (272.35 tons) and at 50-100 m depths (255.12 ton). Based on the results obtained, the highest species diversity for Haemulids was in “A” stratum at depths less than 50 m, while for Nemipterids it was similar in the total study area and different depth layers. Highest species diversity for Ariids were found in “A” and “D” strata at depth layers of 10-20 m and 30-50 m, respectively. The biochemical composition of Sardinella gibbosa, Clupeonella engrauliformis and Stolephorus indicus bones captured from the Iranian Ocean (the Oman Sea and Caspian Sea) were determined. The analysis of amino acids and fatty acid profiles was done by HPLC and GC and also analysis of minerals was done by means of flame atomic emission spectrophotometry. The least amount of mono unsaturated fatty acids was observed in C. engrauliformis (p<0.05). The highest contents of polyunsaturated fatty acids and n3/n6 ratio were observed in bones of C. engrauliformis. High levels of Ca, Fe, P, Zn and Cu minerals were measured in S. gibbosa and C. engrauliformis, respectively. The highest values of basic amino acid and sulfur containing amino acids were measured in S. gibbosa and C. engrauliformis, respectively. The chemical index did not reveal lack of any essential amino acids in three studied fish varieties compared to reference protein. On the basis of result, the best bone composition was observed in S. gibbosa. Totally, 42 females and 16 males were captured during March to May 2014 by gill net and divided into two age groups including 2 year olds and 3 year olds. In each age group, fish were classified into two groups depending on maturation stage i.e. matured and maturing fish. According to the results obtained, in each age group, there were no significant differences between matured and maturing  males and females in terms of absolute fecundity (p>0.05). In each age group, oocyte diameter was higher in matured fish than in maturing individuals (p<0.05). In 2 year old males and In 3 year old females, higher HIS values were recorded in maturing fish compared to matured fish. In females, the plasma levels of E2, T as well as P were significantly higher and lower in maturing fish and matured individual, respectively. In males, only plasma T was higher in matured fish compared to maturing fish and other assayed steroids did not show significant differences.
