The aim of this study is to define relationships between morphological and functional traits and the survival rate of the European white fish fry (Coregonus lavaretus) when they were fed with different feeding regimes. One hundred and fifty newly hatched white fish fry stocked into nine rearing cages, under a flow-through rearing system, were distributed randomly in a natural pond, and nourished for twelve weeks with three kinds of food, the rotifer (Brachionus  plicatilis), a compound Salmonidae commercial diet and a mixture of 50% of each , all treated in triplicates. The backward method of regression procedure was used for statistical analysis.  Combinations of independent variables to multiple linear regression models were based on the changes in the R2 statistics and the F-value were produced by adding or deleting an independent variable. The five variable combinations (individual weight, length, total weight gain, total feeding rate, and feed efficiency) predicted the larval survival rate in multiple linear regression models and supported by partial correlation. This study revealed that length and weight bear negative signs whenever they appear in these statistical relations. Also the higher the feeding rate, the survival rate increases accordingly regardless of the treatment effect. Finally, in mixed feed, predicting the survival rate is easier and more practical since the only parameters remaining in the equation are the length and weight of the fry. Perhaps this finding is because of the fact that the co feeding (rotifer and compound) can better satisfy the nutritional needs of these larvae than each feed alone.}, Keywords = {Statistical models, Survival rate, Coregonus lavaretus, Fry}, volume = {10}, Number = {2}, pages = {188-197}, publisher = {Iranian Fisheries Research Organization}, url = {http://jifro.ir/article-1-167-en.html}, eprint = {http://jifro.ir/article-1-167-en.pdf}, journal = {Iranian Journal of Fisheries Sciences}, issn = {1562-2916}, eissn = {}, year = {2011} } @article{ author = {Ehteshami, F. and Christianus, A. and Rameshi, H. and SharrAzniHarmin, and CheRoosSaad, and Abdolalian, E.}, title = {Evaluation of selected substrates for collection of hatchery reared black-lip pearl oyster (Pinctada margaritifera) spat}, abstract ={An experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of collector materials and position on Pinctada margaritifera spat attachment. Settlement on polyethylene pipes (54.6%) was significantly higher (P < 0.05) than on plastic baskets (25%). The number of dead spat after settlement on pipe (1.4%) and basket (1.5%) were not significantly different (P > 0.05). Possible factors causing the pattern of settlement reveals that it could be related to the material used in collector, reaction to light and gravity force. Male to female ratio for leaping grey mullet population in Beymelek Lagoon was 1:2.71. The ages ranged from 1 to 4 years for males and from 0 to 5 years for females. The growth parameters of the von Bertalanffy equation were: L∞ = 35.2 cm, K = 0.276 year-1 and t0 = -2.893 year for males, L∞ = 35.9 cm, K = 0.386 year-1 and t0 = -1.760 year for females and L∞ = 39.9 cm, K = 0.271 year-1 and t0 = -2.233 year for all individuals. The experiment was designed in three treatments (named 3, 4 and 5) and two controls (named 1 and 2) in triplicate with 15 shrimp in each repetition prepared of glass aquarium. All the treatments and repetitions were exposed to Vibrio harveyi (NCBI: GU974342.1). The concentrations of the treatments were 108,106 and 104 CFU ml-1 in individual containers dedicated for each mentioned treatment (3, 4 and 5, respectively). The shrimp samples were also fixed in Davidson fixative for histopathological studies. The results showed that the difference of THC value between controls and group 3 during 12 till 96 hours of experiment was significant (P< 0.05). The differences between groups 4 and control of THC value during 24 to 144 hours of experiment were also significant (P< 0.05).
